Working for UBM means living our values – We Explore, We Exceed, You Excel. This isn’t just a snappy statement, a catchy composition of words beginning with ‘E’: our values mean action. They underpin how we run the business, guiding how we make decisions at every level, and they challenge every one of us to improve our performance. Find out more about what this means in practice in our Values section.

But what’s it like day-to-day at UBM? What would you experience if you worked for us?

Who better to ask than those who already do? Our people do the talking.

PR Newswire

Sarah Skerik VP Newswire Distribution, Chicago
Sarah Skerik, VP Newswire Distribution Career history: Worked for an affiliate, PR News Service, in the early 1990s. Joined PR Newswire in 1995. Promoted to current role in 2005, as first product manager for PR Newswire.

Says Sarah: "The internet changed so many things, and I no longer get a blank look when I say I work for PR Newswire. Ten years ago, we were a mystery; now we're a household name (almost). I was the national market manager for technology during the dot com boom, so I had a ringside seat to that entire spectacle. It’s a cool business – the market always has a new twist or turn to keep us on our feet, so in 10 years a lot has changed. We still have the same tremendous culture we had back in 1995 though, and many of the same people, too! The fact that you can't go to any meeting without bumping into a company veteran speaks volumes about PR Newswire. People who succeed here are inquisitive, show a lot of initiative, and like learning. Everything is always changing, and those who embrace change will always be well positioned for success."

Melissa Abruzese, Sr. Account Manager

Career history: Joined PR Newswire as call center representative in 2002. Promoted to call center supervisor in 2004, and in 2006, became a senior account manager.

Says Melissa: "On any given day, I'll get calls or emails from my clients who either have questions about their account or they need help doing something, like uploading their news release. So a lot of my time is spent responding to these inquiries.

"I think that what's just as important as reacting to client issues or questions is proactively coming up with solutions that meet their needs, while making them aware of the products and services that are available to them.

"In the end, the most gratifying aspect of my job is building and maintaining good working relationships with my clients. I know I'm doing my job when they call or email me to say that they are happy with the level of service that they receive from PR Newswire — that I'm dependable and that they can always count on me to help them. That's a great feeling!"
